Meghan Lindstrom, MD

Chief Resident

Hometown: White Bear Lake, MN

Medical School: University of Minnesota Medical School

What are your plans after residency?  I plan to pursue fellowships in Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology. Eventually, I hope to find a position at an academic institution that will allow me to focus at least part of my time on trainee education.

If you weren’t a physician, what would you do? I would probably be an author/illustrator and a professor of either English or Japanese literature.

If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?   Although a week is far too short, I would love to travel to Japan. With a lifelong interest in Japanese language, food, and culture, I would relish the opportunity to explore both the bustling metropolitan and picturesque rural areas of Japan. For a more low-key week with less active travel, I would love to return to the shores of Lake Superior, which is the perfect place for reconnecting with nature through hiking, canoeing, and spending hour after hour reading in the sun surrounded by the sounds and scenery of the lakeshore.

Meghan is from the Twin Cities area and graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Asian Languages and Literatures -- Japanese. She then attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She decided to continue her medical training in pathology at the University of Minnesota due to the program's strength in both AP and CP disciplines, its emphasis on academics and research, and the diverse patient population and variety of common and unusual cases. She also has a twin sister with whom she couples matched; her sister is currently pursuing a residency in internal medicine at the University of Minnesota. In her free time, Meghan enjoys baking, reading, writing, listening to music (mostly soundtracks or Korean or Japanese pop), walking her dogs, and playing video games.
